Unemployment Rate Goes Up

Sonora, CA — The unemployment rate across the Mother Lode edged upwards last month.


Tuolumne County’s rate in November was 13.6 percent, compared to 12.9 percent in October. Calaveras County registered 15.9 percent in November, compared to 14.8 percent in October.


California’s unemployment rate was unchanged at 12.4 percent. Statewide, the most new jobs created last month were in the fields of construction, health, education, hospitality and government.


The statistics were released by the California Employment Development Department.
