Calaveras County Superintendent Retires

Angels Camp, CA– Calaveras County superintendent of schools John Brophy attended his last County Board of Education meeting yesterday.

Brophy, who has been the county superintendent for the past 13 years is retiring at the end of the year.

“It’s going to be different, but I’m looking forward to having a little break after 38 ½ years,” said Brophy. “After that I’m sure I will be reengaged in the community and doing things as I have over the past 30 years to help out where I can. My wife and I like to camp and travel, so we’re planning to do some of that and just pursuing other interests as well.”

Kathy Northington who has been the superintendent of the Mark Twain Union Elementary School District for two years, will replace Brophy as Calaveras County superintendent next year.
