San Andreas, CA – The Calaveras County Supervisors have called for a “State of Emergency” due to last week’s winter storms.
Declaring a State of Emergency may allow the county to qualify for state funding to recoup costs associated with the weather. “Hopefully we can receive reimbursement for funds expended by the County Roads Department, Ebbetts Pass Fire District, Sheriff’s Office and other public agencies,” says Merita Callaway, Board Chair “They were out working 24 hours a day.”
The Supervisors held a special meeting today to declare the State of Emergency. The vote was 4-0, with District Five Supervisor Russ Thomas absent.
