Traveling Remains A Challenge

Sonora, CA –The CHP is asking motorists to travel with caution today while the winter storm passes through the region. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Sierra Nevada through 6pm today.


Many traffic hazards are being reported across the Mother Lode due to the snow and rain. Highway 108 has been temporarily closed down at Soulsbyville as snowplows are having problems keeping up with the snow.


A tree has fallen on Tuolumne Road near Woodham Carne Road. Vehicles with chains or 4 wheel drive are being allowed to pass by the tree, but others are being turned around. A delivery truck is stuck on Highway 108 at Twain Harte Drive. Roadway flooding is reported on Bell Mooney Road near the Highway 108 intersection. A tree is down on Highway 49 at Poppy Hills Drive. A previous incident reported has been cleared up on Lyons Bald Mountain Road.
