A cold low pressure system will likely bring snow to the Motherlode this weekend.

Daytime temperatures will only reach into the low 50s.

Winds will increase on Thursday and Friday over the higher elevations of the Sierra Nevada. Gusts of forty to fifty mph are possible over the crest.

The storm system will bring precipitation to the Motherlode beginning on Friday and continue throughout the weekend.

Snow levels will lower to 2000 to 3000 feet from late Saturday into Sunday.

Half a foot to a foot of snow is expected above 2000 feet. Over a foot of accumulation is expected above 4000 feet. Two to three feet of snow is possible above 6000 feet.

As of Wednesday morning Highway 4 Ebbetts Pass, Highway 88 Carson Pass and Highway 120 Tioga Pass were all open with no restrictions. Highway 108 Sonora Pass remains closed at Kennedy Meadows.
