Ten Year Old Makes History At Yosemite

Yosemite, CA – Scaling El Capitan at Yosemite National Park is a formidable feet for anyone, not to mention some of the world’s best climbers – but a ten year old girl!

Selah Schneiter of Glenwood Springs, Colorado did just that making her the youngest to ever scale El Captian, which also holds a lot of history for her family.

With her father, Mike Schneiter, and family friend, Mark Regier’s, help, she made her way up the challenging 3,000-foot iconic rock, reaching the top in five days. Selah told a KFSN-TV in Fresno that their approach was to do the climb little by little, calling it taking “small bites.” She revealed that she was overwhelmed and emotional when she reached the summit, adding that she trained mentally and physically for nine months before taking on this feat.

Climbing appears to be in her blood, as her father shared that the entire family climbs and he fell in love with his wife 15 years ago while scaling El Capitan.
