Stanislaus National Forest Christmas Tree

Sonora, CA– The Stanislaus National Forest has been selected to harvest the national Capitol Christmas Tree for next year.

A gift from California, the tree will be 60 feet or taller and will grace the front lawn of the U.S Capitol in Washington D.C. in December, 2011. About 75 additional companion trees of various sizes will also be delivered to the Capitol and placed in federal offices.

Stanislaus National Forest Supervisor Susan Skalski said, “We are honored to be selected to provide the Capitol Christmas Tree and look forward to working with groups and individuals representing the state and general public in completing the many tasks related to harvesting the tree and preparing it for the great journey to Washington D.C.”
