Tuolumne County Approves Furloughs

Sonora, CA — Most Tuolumne County workers will have 15 furlough days this fiscal year.

The Supervisors voted unanimously to pass a furlough program that mirrors what was approved last year. Tuolumne County workers will have three furlough days around Thanksgiving, seven around Christmas and five additional days worked out on an individual basis.

CAO Craig Pedro says the holiday periods were selected because it allows workers to have extra time with their families, and the demand for county services during holiday periods is often low. The furloughs will save the county an estimated $2 million. Some services, like Child Support Services, will not be affected.
