Brown Seeking Pension Roll Back

Sacramento, CA — Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown is proposing a higher retirement age for new state employees while asking current workers to contribute more of their salaries toward retirement.

According to the Associated Press, Brown believes California must roll back pension benefits for state employees and contain rising costs in the state retirement system. Brown talked about his campaign proposal with the Los Angeles Times on Thursday.

He says public workers are being blamed for economic problems caused by Wall Street hedge funds and mortgage sellers.
