New Wagon Trail Alternative

Angels Camp, CA — Many in Calaveras County are not pleased with original alternatives proposed for the Hwy 4 wagon trail realignment.

A workshop on the project was held earlier this week in Angels Camp. Calaveras Council of Governments Executive Director Tim McSorley says some residents have banded together to create a new alternative.

“The one that the community brought forward, and these folks know the best because they own the property around it, is a more southerly alignment,” says McSorley. “It hopefully takes better advantage of some of the topography, which could drive our costs down.”

The Council of Governments and Caltrans are working to finalize a plan to realign a five mile stretch between Angels Camp and Copperopolis. McSorley says the proposal brought forth by residents will be taken into consideration.
