Federal Grant Will Help Seniors

Sonora, CA — Catholic Charities of the Mother Lode is one of 14 organizations nationwide selected to receive a federal “Innovative Aging In Place Grant.”

Director Kathi Toepel says the organization will receive $300,000, each of the next three years.

“This is especially good news because of all the senior programs that have recently been cut by the state departments,” says Toepel. “This is definitely a real plus for the seniors of Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties.”

The money will be used to fund programs that help seniors stay in their homes as they age older. Catholic Charities will be partnering with the Area 12 Agency on Aging and the Tuolumne and Calaveras Senior Peer Counseling programs to create programs to benefit seniors.
