Job Seekers Ready To Work

Sonora, CA — Numerous job seekers crammed into the Mother Lode Fairgrounds Wednesday afternoon for a Community Job Fair.

"We had people lined up waiting to get in on both sides of the auditorium," says Mary Finigian of Mother Lode Job Training. "I heard that several of the employers actually ran out of applications and had to go back to get more."

The Job Fair ran from  1-4pm.

Around 40 employers were on hand to talk with the potential workers. Professionals were also available to review resumes and give interview training.

Earlier in the day, Partners in Education hosted the 12th annual Career Faire for area students. According to organizer Jeanne Smith, around 900 students took part.

The purpose was to help students learn about the variety of jobs and careers they could pursue, and the skills and educational requirements necessary to get those jobs.
