Man Arrested For Vandalism And Theft

Sonora, CA– A Jamestown man was arrested Tuesday morning on vandalism and theft charges.


According to the Sonora Police Department, at around 11:20 am, officers spotted 50-year-old John Michael Cosovich cutting up pieces of metal at the old Whitt Mill on Hospital Road in Sonora.


Police Chief Mark Stinson says the metal was taken off of historic lumber equipment that Cosovich intended to sell as scrap metal in the Central Valley. It’s estimated that the vandalism damage was $50,000 or more.
