Students Evacuated At Calaveras School

Avery, CA– Students from Avery Middle School were evacuated Tuesday after a suspected bomb threat.


The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department reports that dispatch received a call from school personnel at around 12:22 pm.


A student reportedly contacted the school office after seeing a note written on the boy’s bathroom wall that threatened to bomb the school.


School officials soon began evacuating the students to a lower field.


Deputies arrived on scene at around 12:45 pm. They conducted a search of the area but found no suspicious devices. The “all clear” was given at around 2:30 pm, according to authorities.


Avery Middle School is located at 4545 Moran Road in Avery.
