Calaveras Pile Burning

Calaveras County, CA — Pile burning is starting up in the Calaveras Ranger District of the Stanislaus National Forest.

Officials warn that smoke may be visible along Highway 4 and the surrounding communities like Bear Valley, Big Trees Village and Arnold. Pile burning will continue over the coming months and be contingent on weather, fuel moisture and air quality. The purpose is to reduce fuels from forest thinning projects.

All said and done, around 200 acres of piles will be burned.
