Andy’s Home Center Closing

Sonora, CA — Citing a slow economy and increased competition, Andy’s True Value Home Center in Sonora plans to close later this year.

The business started in 1957, but didn’t change its name to Andy’s Home Center until 1983. “I would really like to thank the community for their tremendous support,” says owner Steve Anderson. “The community has been great, and this is unfortunate.”

Anderson and his wife now plan to retire. He says the decision is due to a combination of factors. The economy remains stagnant and very few new homes are being built. There is also a smaller piece of the pie available with the opening of businesses like Lowe’s and Tractor Supply over the past couple of years.

Andy’s has 57 employees. A liquidation sale will begin on October 31st and the business will close by December 31st. Also starting on October 31st, Andy’s will only be open Monday through Friday, and closed on weekends.
