Burn Suspension Being Lifted

Sonora, CA — Because of the recent wet weather, CAL Fire will allow burning effective tomorrow morning.

Burning will be allowed on permissive burn days within the CAL Fire Tuolumne-Calaveras jurisdiction. It applies to private lands. The burn suspension will be lifted at 8am.

Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit Chief Brian Kirk says, “Even though we are nearing the end of fire season, California has seen some of the most damaging wildfires during the month of October. It is critical that the person conducting the burn keep close watch on the fire at all times. If the fire gets away, that person can be held liable for the damage and suppression costs.”

Burn permits are required.
