Berryhill Announces Political Plans

Sonora, CA — Senator Tom Berryhill will continue to represent the mountain county region.

Berryhill had been considering a run for the District Five Senate seat, where he currently resides, which covers parts of the Central Valley.

Berryhill tells KVML News he has decided to finish out his four year term in District 14, and then plans to run for the new District 8 seat in 2014. The District 8 seat will include mountain counties like Tuolumne, Calaveras and Amador.

Changes to the state’s political maps have forced candidates to make decisions about which district they will run for during the upcoming election cycles. The Mother Lode will lose its other elected representatives as part of redistricting, including Assemblywoman Kristin Olsen and Senator Ted Gaines.
