Mono Way Scheduled For 2012

Sonora, CA — Construction could start as early as June of next year on the widening of Mono Way.

A portion of Mono Way will be widened to five lanes between Greenley Road and Fir Drive. The Tuolumne County Supervisors heard an update on the $3.2 million project today by City of Sonora Engineer Jerry Fuccillo and T.C. Community Resource Agency Deputy Director Duke York.

The project will be funded by City and County traffic mitigation fees. The traffic mitigation program was started in 1990 and developers pay a fee when a building permit is issued for new residential construction. Officials hope that the proper environmental documents will be completed by March, and the project would then go out for bids in April or May.

Fuccillo noted that Construction could begin in June and should take four months to complete. The Supervisors took a formal vote to support the concept of jointly funding the project with the city, and directing county staff to help the city implement the plans.
