Motor Fire Grows To 2,000 Acres

Mariposa County, CA– A wildland fire that started in Mariposa County yesterday afternoon has now grown to 2,000 acres.


The Motor Fire which is burning in the Sierra National Forest near Highway 140 continues to grow at a rapid rate of spread, according to the Forest Service. Last night the fire also spread into the Stanislaus National Forest.


Officials are continuing to warn motorists to stay away from Highway 140 heading into Yosemite National Park. Highway 140 from the Foresta Bridge west remains closed. There is currently no estimated time on when it will reopen.


The fire started Thursday after a motorhome caught on fire near the Merced River Canyon.
