Back To School At Summerville

Tuolumne, CA– With the return of school for most students in the Mother Lode this week, it’s been a busy time.

Classes began at Summerville High School on Thursday.

“Our first day we had over 700 students on campus,” said Summerville High School principal Dave Urquhart. “We had thought enrollment was going to be a little lower this year, but we’ve had new students moving into the area.  Enrollment is up slightly.”

This year Summerville has also added 10 new teachers.

“We had retirements and some people moved on,” said Urquhart. “We were able to replace those people with other good teachers and excellent people and we’re anxious to see how the year goes with these new folks.”

Urquhart says he’s pleased to see full classes, great attitudes by the students, and is  excited to get the year started.
