Waif Mine Fire Contained

Sonora, CA — Crews have now contained a 1/2 acre fire near the intersection of Highway 108 and Waif Mine Road. One outbuilding has been destroyed, and the cause is under investigation.

Also, Highway 49 is still closed near the Rawhide Road intersection because of a fire. A residence and 4-5 outbuildings have been destroyed in the Tuttletown area. It has spread to around 10 acres. The Sheriff’s Office reports that it could be another hour or so before Highway 49 opens.
