Murphys, CA — A Murphys man was seriously injured after his motorcycle was hit by a car last night.
The accident happened on Bret Harte Drive shortly before 7pm. The CHP reports that 74-year-old Robert Fix of Murphys was riding a Kawasaki motorcycle and was hit by a car driven by 67-year-old James Burens of Murphys.
Officer Rebecca Myers says that witnesses claim that Burens was talking on a cell phone and went straight through a curve in the roadway. The two vehicles then collided and Fix had to be taken to a Modesto Hospital for major injuries.
Officer Myers notes that the crash is still under investigation.
