County Approves Settlement

Sonora, CA — Tuolumne County has agreed to pay $32,000 for walking away from two pieces of property on Lyons Street.

The County had planned to use the lots to build housing for residents in the Behavioral Health program. However, the County received numerous complaints from neighbors in the area and members of the Sonora City Council. The Supervisors have decided to step back and start the process from square one. The settlement with the property owner, Robert E. Boyer, was negotiated by county staff and approved today with a 5-0 vote.

The costs will be covered by a Mental Health Services Act Performance Grant that was received by the county, which funds the overall project.
