Soulsbyville Woman Seriously Injured

Soulsbyville, CA — A Soulsbyville woman was seriously injured after stepping in front of a truck on Highway 108 Thursday.

The CHP reports that 48-year-old Monika Sturgis was walking along Highway 108 near Old Wards Ferry Road when she darted into the westbound traffic lane. Todd Hensley of Copperopolis tried to swerve his truck away from Sturgis, but she could not be avoided. Sturgis was flown by helicopter to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto for head and facial injuries. The CHP has determined, based on statements from witnesses and Sturgis’ boyfriend, she intentionally ran into the path of the truck.

Traffic was slow on Highway 108 yesterday afternoon while officials attended to Sturgis. The driver of the truck was not injured.
