Kirkwood Resort Founder Dies

Kirkwood, CA– Bud Klein, founder of Kirkwood Resort has died after a battle with cancer. He was 83.


Resort spokesperson Michael Dalzell said that Klein died May 5th at his home in Stockton.
Klein founded Kirkwood Resort just south of Lake Tahoe in the 1970’s.


Dalzell says because he loved the view of Kirkwood Meadows, the meadow will be renamed in a conservation trust bearing his name.


Klein was a major backer of California Cooler, a blended wine and fruit juice that was popular in the 1980’s. The Klein family also owns wineries and farms in the Central Valley.
