Questions Abound Over Gibson

Tuolumne, CA — Some parents and students at Summerville High School’s Connections Academy have learned that Principal Michael Gibson has been placed on Administrative Leave.

When asked about the matter this afternoon, Summerville High Superintendent Dr. John Keiter said he was not able to comment on school personnel matters. Multiple parents of Connections Academy students have contacted KVML News this afternoon expressing displeasure about the School Board’s handling of Gibson.

Kerry Worden, a parent of two students at Connections Academy, says a rally for Gibson will be held Friday morning outside Summerville High School. “There is an incredible amount of support for Michael Gibson,” says Worden. “He’s a main reason many parents enroll their children at Connections Academy.”

Multiple parents that have contacted KVML News believe that the Administrative Leave has to do with decisions Gibson has made regarding curriculum and school personnel. Everything is still speculation at this point, as again, school officials are not commenting on the matter.

Connections Academy is a performing arts charter school at Summerville High School.
