County Approves Courthouse Agreement

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Supervisors have approved a Memorandum of Understanding that will lead to the construction of a new Tuolumne County Courthouse.

The County will sell 4.33 acres of the Law and Justice Center property on Old Wards Ferry Road to the state’s Administrative Office of the Courts. The price is $800,000. Completion of the court is expected to be in the Fall/Winter of 2014.

The agreement stipulates that the county complete the infrastructure to the site. The county plans to sell some surplus property to offset the costs. It was noted that the county plans to use no General Fund revenue. The infrastructure improvements could cost around $3.7 million.

The MOU was approved by the Supervisors with a 5-0 vote.

Tuolumne County purchased the 47 acre site on Old Wards Ferry Road for $4.2 million.
