Commission To Debate Lawmaker Pay

Sonora, CA — The salaries and benefits of California lawmakers will be discussed today.

The Citizen’s Commission in charge of setting salaries for elected officials will hold a meeting. One item expected to be debated is whether to continue the car allowance that pays state lawmakers around $7,400 a year. It allows elected officials to lease a vehicle on the state tab.

Most Senate and Assembly members are paid around $95,000 dollars a year in salary. Statewide officials make between $130-151K.
