Meeting On Lyons Dam Reservoir

Sonora, CA — The property around Lyons Dam Reservoir will be the focus of an upcoming meeting in Sonora.


Approximately 1,000 acres is owned by PG&E and must be donated as part of a bankruptcy settlement. The group in charge of finding the best public use for the land is the Pacific Forest and Watershed Lands Stewardship Council. The group will host a forum on March 31st from 3-6pm at the Sonora Opera Hall. The purpose is to give an update on the selection process and solicit input.


Agencies that have expressed interest in taking over the Lyons Dam property include CAL Fire, California Department of Fish and Game, San Joaquin County Office of Education, County of Tuolumne, Tuolumne County Resource Conservation District, Tuolumne Utilities District and the U.S. Forest Service.


The upcoming meeting is open to the public.
