Fire Agreement On Council Agenda

Sonora, CA — The Sonora City Council will discuss whether to participate in a Joint Powers Agreement for fire protection during tonight’s meeting.


Tuolumne County has been encouraging the various fire and first responder agencies to work together to streamline costs and services. Other fire agencies that have expressed a willingness to participate are Groveland, Tuolumne and Jamestown.


The City Council is also scheduled to authorize the closure of Highway 49 on May 7th for the Mother Lode Roundup Parade. Tonight’s meeting begins at 5pm at Sonora City Hall.
