Winter Set To Return

A Winter Storm Warning has been extended by the National Weather Service for the Sierra Nevada through Thursday 4 a.m.


Additionally, a Winter Storm Watch remains in effect for the Motherlode from Tuesday evening through Wednesday afternoon.


Snow levels will lower from 5000 feet to 1500 feet by Wednesday afternoon.


Isolated thunderstorms, with small hail, is likely on Wednesday.


Winds of twenty to thirty mph are expected in the Motherlode with gusts reaching up to fifty mph. In the Sierra Nevada, winds of twenty to thirty-five mph are possible with some gusts ranging from fifty to seventy mph.


By Wednesday afternoon, several inches of snow is expected at 2000 feet. Five to ten inches of snow is likely above 2500 feet. Half a foot to a foot of snow is possible above 4000 feet. One to two feet of snow may fall above 5000 feet. Two to four feet of snow is forecast above 7000 feet.
