Sonora, CA — Pet Smart will be using a portion of the former Sonora Mervyn’s building. The nationwide company will be sharing the site with Jo-Ann Fabric and Crafts.
“For pet owners, having the largest specialty retailer of its kind is a real draw for Tuolumne County,” says Larry Cope, Economic Development Authority Director. “We expect that residents from surrounding counties will consider Sonora, instead of traveling to outlying areas like Stockton, Modesto or Sacramento,”
Pet Smart has over 1,100 stores in North America. Besides featuring pet food and supplies, the company offers pet training and grooming. They are currently accepting applications for workers. It is not immediately known when they will open.
Cope indicates that there could be a third business announcement regarding the Mervyn’s site in the near future.
