Rehorse Rescue Ranch Trots Ahead

The ReHorse Rescue Ranch is a bit like a regional “Humane Society” for horses.

Raquelle Van Vleck, Director of ReHorse Rescue Ranch, was KVML’s “Newsmaker of the Day”.

People who can’t afford their horses turn them over to the ReHorse Rescue Ranch, which feeds and houses them until a new home is found.

According to Van Vleck the ReHorse Rescue Ranch relies on volunteers and donations and recently received grant funding from the Sonora Area Foundation.

It costs an estimated $150 per day just to feed the horses. Additionally there are medical and other expenses.

A “Winter Hay Drive” is taking place between now and Monday (New Year’s Eve).

“We currently have over 90 horses, in addition to three donkeys,” Van Vleck said. “We appreciate any donations and volunteers, and if anyone wants to help, they can call me anytime.”

Donations are tax deductible. Sponsorships of horses (in addition to adoption) are available.
