Two Week Furlough Period

Sonora, CA — Most Tuolumne County government offices will be closed over the next two weeks.

Around 300 county workers are on furlough over the holidays. Tuolumne County has a total of 15 furlough days this fiscal year, saving the county between $2.5-$3 million.

The furloughs do not impact emergency services, such as Sheriff, Fire and Ambulance. Snow removal services will also be available on an as-needed basis.

The Community Resources Agency office is closed, but inspectors will be able to respond to emergencies. You can contact the Sheriff’s Office Dispatch center at 209-533-5815, and they will call out an Inspector.

Health and Human Services will be open with limited staffing. For Behavioral Health, crisis walk-in services will be available by calling 209-533-7000.

Fiscal services (Auditor/Tax Collector, etc) will be open select days during the holiday period from 9am-1pm.

Animal Control will be open December 26-28, December 31st, and January 2-5.

The District Attorney’s Office, Public Defenders Office and Probation Department will be open December 26-28, December 31st, and January 2-4.

Other buildings, such as the libraries, are closed.
