It’s Shop Local Saturday

Sonora, CA -Tuolumne County Chamber of Commerce’s wants holiday shoppers to make their money count for the community. Today is “Shop Local Saturday” and the chamber is urging you to support local merchants this holiday season. The Chamber says many shops are offering sales and savings.

Tuolumne County Chamber of Commerce President George Segarini says, “It’s investing in your own community as the money goes back into the community.”
The next big shopping frenzy is “Cyber Monday”.

Segarini says, “Internet shopping has increase tremendously. That is the next hurdle we have to get over is how to curtail that internet shopping and get back to our local merchants.” He says it is a problem all year round not just during the holiday season since the tax dollars don’t stay here. Segarini says, “The revenue loss is more detrimental from the internet than residents shopping out of town.”

The Chamber says even though it promotes “Shop Local Saturday” during Christmas time, they encourage you to keep your hard earned cash in the Mother Lode everyday to keep it working for you and your family.
