Fatal Accident Near Avery

Avery, CA — There was a fatal accident Sunday afternoon on Highway 4 west of Red Tail Hawk Road in Calaveras County.


The CHP reports that an unidentified 20-year-old woman from Murphys was killed. The CHP reports that, for unknown reasons, the woman turned her 2002 Honda Civic directly into the path of a vehicle driven by 53-year-old Cindy Gentile of Los Gatos. Gentile had minor injuries, as did a passenger in her vehicle, 58-year-old Gregory Gentile. They were both taken to Mark Twain St. Josephs Hospital. The Murphys woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
