A New Head For State Corrections

Sacramento, CA – The Associated Press reports an acting secretary has been named to head the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Governor Jerry Brown’s administration announced this week that Martin Hoshino will take over the post until a permanent new chief is selected. Hoshino was the department’s undersecretary of administration and offender services. Hoshino replaces current Secretary Matthew Cate who officially stepped down from the position earlier this week.

Brown’s office says the search for a permanent replacement is ongoing. The position is expected to be filled sometime next year.
