See Or Smell Smoke?

Lake Beardsley, CA – Stanislaus National Forest Officials want to alert residents and motorists traveling along Highway 108 that they will be doing prescribe burns for the next couple of weeks. They say smoke might be visible along the Highway 108 corridor and in the canyons during the night and early morning.

Forest Officials will ignite a total of 1529 acres. The plan is to burn around 150 acres a day weather permitting. They say the under burn will be divided into 15 units, ranging in size from 27 to 171 acres.

Forest Officials say the burn of vegetation in that area will decrease hazardous fuel and re-introduce fire into the ecosystem.
