Approaching Weather System

Sonora, CA — Rain and high country snow can be expected this evening.

The National Weather Service reports that precipitation will likely arrive during the mid-to-late evening hours across the Sierra Nevada foothills. It currently appears that the weather system will arrive after most of the trick-or-treating activities have wrapped up for the night. The National Weather Service says snow levels could fall to around 6,000 ft. by early tomorrow morning. Only a couple of inches of snow is expected.

Rainfall throughout the valley and foothills is expected to range from a quarter-to-a-half-of-an-inch. Currently Highway 108 Sonora Pass and Highway 120 Tioga Pass are open, while Highway 4 Ebbetts Pass is closed at the Mt. Reba turnoff.

The Rain, snow and wind is expected to decrease by Thursday.
