Rain Helps Fire Conditions

Sonora, CA — Debris burning will soon be allowed in the Mother Lode.

CAL Fire announces that burning will be allowed during select hours, effective this coming Monday, in areas covered by CAL Fire in Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties.

“For now, it will be from the 7pm to 8am, on permissive burn days,” says Nancy Longmore, CAL Fire spokesperson. “Since we are still in Fire Season, burn permits will still be required.”

Permits can be picked up at any CAL Fire station. If a permit was picked up last spring, it is still valid.
