Supervisors Okay Counsel Search

Sonora, CA — Tuolumne County is beginning a search for a new County Counsel.

It is noted that the Board of Supervisors will cast a “wide net” this time around. The past couple of times that the position was filled, applicants had to be attorneys currently working within county government. This time the position is open to anyone, either working inside the government, or for a private business. The search will be led by the county’s Human Resources Department, with oversight by the CAO.

Prospective candidates will be screened, and there will be a multi-step interview process. It will be a roughly five month process, with the final candidate selected and starting work by mid-March. The Board of Supervisors will make the final decision.

Also today, the Supervisors accepted a list of upcoming Resource Advisory Committee projects. $123K in funding is coming from the federal Secure Rural Schools and Community Self Determination Act. Funding will go to things such as repairing a Forest Road that leads to popular Emigrant Wilderness trailheads such as Crabtree and Gianelli Cabin. Money will also go to annual projects like the TuCare education tours.
