Robbery In Junction

Sonora, CA — A man was arrested for robbing a Sonora business at knifepoint and escaping with $160.

The crime happened late Saturday afternoon at the Columbia Candy Kitchen in the Junction Shopping Center. The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office says 23-year-old John Robert Olguin walked in, showed a large knife, and demanded cash. He was able to escape before deputies arrived on scene.

An investigation led deputies to interview Olguin. They searched his vehicle and found a large knife, as well as the the sack used to take the money. He was also later positively identified by one of the Candy Kitchen workers. Olguin was an employee at another business in the Junction.
