Victims Identified In A Head-On Crash In Sonora

Sonora, CA — A man is air-lifted to Modesto after a head-on crash in Sonora. It happened on Highway 108 between Via Este and Draper Mine Road yesterday just after 5pm.

CHP reports 81 year old E.J. Hernandez of Soulsbyville crossed the center line smashing into 35 year old Valerie Winfield and passenger 10 year old Sierra Rapp both of Sonora. Hernandez was pinned in his vehicle and emergency crews had to cut him out of the car. He was air-lifted to Modesto Medical Center with moderate injuries. Winfield and Rapp were taken by ambulance to Sonora Regional Medical Center for minor injuries.


All were wearing seatbelts and their airbags deployed. The accident is still under investigation.
