Silencing The Tax Initiative Issues

Sacramento, CA – A state official is getting heat over muting information about the different tax initiatives voters will have to decide on in the coming elections.

The Associated Press says California Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg is coming under fire for blocking Thursday’s public-access broadcast. The AP says it was a highly anticipated hearing outlining the difference in the different tax initiatives on the November ballot.

Critics blast Steinberg saying he should have let the voters hear all the information and decide for themselves what initiative they want to vote for on the November ballot.

A spokesman for the President Pro Tem says he wanted to avoid the possibility of the broadcast becoming political fodder.
