Modular Home Slowed Traffic

Mokelumne Hill, CA — More details have been released about the vehicle accident that shutdown Highway 49 yesterday morning near the Calaveras-Amador line.

The CHP reports that Vernon Chenoweth of Parachute, Colorado was driving a big rig that was pulling a modular home. The vehicle drifted to the right and crossed over an asphalt curb. The right wheels became lodged on the inside curb and could not be driven back onto the roadway. The truck and home remained stuck until a heavy duty tow truck could free the entire vehicle. It was noted that the truck was being escorted by two pilot cars, and it was in compliance with Caltrans regulations.

The accident happened at 9:40am, and motorists in the area experienced extensive delays.
