Fire Weather Watch Issued For Stanislaus Forest

The National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch for the Stanislaus National Forest from Saturday afternoon through late Saturday night.

Lightning strikes with dry fuels and little precipitation is raising the concern for significant fire danger.

Additionally, winds gusts from twenty-five to thirty-five mph are expected with downdrafts up to fifty mph in the vicinity of thunderstorms.

Some Sierra storms could begin as early as Friday afternoon and evening.

The thunderstorm threat will continue on Sunday however those storms should produce moderate rainfall.
