Injured Construction Worker Identified

Sonora, CA – CHP reports 55 year old Manuel Canales from Stockton was hurt when he was hit by a car while directing traffic on Parrotts Ferry Road.

The CHP say the driver, 26 year old David Boatright of Sonora, told officers when he came around a curve that he was temporarily blinded by the sun. He says he did not see Canales holding the stop sign in the middle of the road.

Boatright was driving a 1991 Toyota Camry.

Initial reports from the scene were that Canales may have suffered a broken ankle, but today CHP says they can not confirm that. Canales was taken to Sonora Regional Medical Center.
