California Voters Decide

Sacramento, CA — California voters say no Prop 29. It would have added a $1 a pack tax on cigarettes for cancer research.

Cycling legend, Lance Armstrong supported the tax, and tobacco companies spent $50 million to campaign against the tax.

While voters snuffed out that proposition….they passed Prop 28 which limits lawmakers to 12 years in office.

Prop 28 allows them to spend time in one house or a combination in both houses of the state Legislature. Currently, lawmakers can serve a total of 14 years.
