No To Gifts, Yes To The Pill

Sacramento, CA — One bill involves gifts for legislators.  It would not allow them to accept spa treatments, professional sports tickets, trips and gift cards.

It passed on a 33-1 vote.

Democratic Senator, Lou Correa, says lawmakers, quote, don’t need to go to Lady Gaga shows to do their jobs.

Another bill lets California women get birth control pills without having to see a doctor. Instead it allows registered nurses to give them out at primary care clinics.

Democrats say it gives women better access to birth control. Republicans question the standard of care nurses could provide.

The bill passed 41-26 on a party line vote and moves to the Senate.
